Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and provide Basic Life Support interventions, including CPR, oxygen administration, bleeding control, splinting, and vital sign monitoring
  • Support Paramedics during Advanced Life Support (ALS) responses by preparing equipment and assisting with delegated patient care
  • Monitor patients throughout transport and communicate changes in condition to medical personnel
  • Complete accurate electronic patient care reports and required documentation
  • Safely operate ambulances in accordance with company policies and traffic regulations
  • Perform routine inspections, cleaning, restocking, and maintenance of emergency vehicles and equipment
  • Assist with patient lifting, stretcher operations, and safe transportation procedures
  • Participate in continuing education, required certifications, and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Current State EMT certification in good standing
  • National Registry EMT (NREMT) certification if required by state regulations
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
  • Valid driver’s license
  • FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800 certifications
  • Previous EMT experience preferred
  • PHTLS or ITLS certification is an advantage
  • Basic computer and technology skills
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to lift and move patients safely with assistance when necessary
