Compensation:
Emergency Medical Technician Pay Band — $29.909 to $36.572 per hour

Position Summary
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) plays a vital role in delivering timely, professional pre-hospital care. This position is responsible for responding to dispatched calls, performing patient assessments, administering appropriate care, and transporting patients safely to medical facilities. Standby coverage is required based on service demands.
In accordance with the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement, preference will be given to qualified HSAS members.
Key Responsibilities

Respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency calls as directed by dispatch

Assess, treat, and safely transport patients experiencing illness or injury

Participate in standby and on-call coverage as required

Maintain professionalism and effective communication in diverse and multicultural environments

Adhere to all clinical protocols, safety standards, and organizational policies
Required Education & Certification
-
Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) diploma
-
Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at the PCP/EMT level
-
Valid Class 4 Driver’s Licence with a clean driver’s abstract
-
Registered Paramedic credential meeting 2011 NOCP standards
Mandatory Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Certification

Health Care Provider Level C (HCP-C)

International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Certification

Additional Information

No guaranteed hours; availability of at least 24 hours every three-week period is required

Must be available for all shift types, including short-notice calls, statutory holidays, and standby assignments

On-call hours will be managed to not exceed 300 hours within a three-week period

Ability to respond to the ambulance station within 10 minutes when on-call is mandatory
