Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1) is accepting applications to establish its 2026–2027 EMT Eligibility List. This list will remain active for up to 12 months, or until all qualified candidates have been hired, and will be used to fill EMT openings as they become available.

Position Summary

The EMT works under the direction of a Company Officer to deliver emergency and non-emergency medical care while following all district policies and protocols. Responsibilities include responding to emergency calls, assisting with patient transport, supporting disaster response efforts, maintaining emergency vehicles and equipment, and participating in station operations and special projects.

Primary Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency medical incidents and provide patient care within EMT scope of practice
• Assist with Advanced Life Support (ALS) calls and interfacility patient transports
• Support mass casualty incidents, disaster response, and community standby events
• Operate ambulances and other district vehicles safely
• Inspect, clean, and maintain medical equipment, vehicles, and station facilities
• Follow established EMS protocols, standing orders, and district procedures
• Complete assigned projects and additional duties as needed

Compensation

Annual Salary: $50,735.52 – $55,590.12 (including incentive pay)

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or GED equivalent

Required Certifications

• Valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain an Oregon driver’s license if necessary
• Current Oregon EMT certification or National Registry EMT (NREMT)
• Current CPR certification

Required During Probation

• Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC), NFPA Driver certification, or equivalent
• OSHA Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations certification
• FEMA/NIMS 100, 200, and 700 certifications

Selection Process

Qualified applicants may participate in a practical skills assessment followed by a panel interview. Successful candidates will be placed on the eligibility list and considered for future EMT vacancies as they arise.
