Job Description
AdventHealth is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to support patient care within a hospital setting. This full-time daytime position offers the opportunity to work alongside nurses and other healthcare professionals while helping deliver exceptional care in a collaborative and patient-focused environment.
As an EMT, you will assist with routine clinical duties, monitor patient conditions, document medical information, and help maintain a safe and organized care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Measure and document patient vital signs, pain levels, height, weight, intake/output, and blood glucose readings
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including mobility, positioning, meals, hydration, and personal comfort
- Perform routine patient rounding and respond promptly to call lights
- Report changes in patient condition or abnormal vital signs to the nursing team
- Maintain clean patient rooms and ensure medical supplies and equipment are properly stocked
- Support nurses, clinical coordinators, and unit leadership with daily patient care activities
- Answer phones, assist visitors, and coordinate communication with other hospital departments
- Transport supplies, equipment, and patient-related materials throughout the facility
- Complete accurate electronic medical record (EMR) documentation
- Assist with additional responsibilities as assigned to support efficient unit operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Vocational or technical healthcare education preferred
- Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Advanced EMT (AEMT) certification
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Previous experience with medical terminology, unit clerk responsibilities, or hospital patient care preferred
- Experience with 12-lead ECGs, intravenous therapy, or vascular sheath removal is considered an advantage
