Under the guidance of licensed healthcare professionals, the Emergency Department Technician supports the delivery of timely and effective patient care. This role also helps maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment, contributing to smooth departmental operations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver patient care under the supervision of licensed nurses and other clinical staff.

  • Assist with maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

  • Perform basic clinical tasks such as setting up and running 12-lead EKGs, drawing blood (once certified), and assisting with patient procedures.

  • Accurately document patient interactions and follow department protocols.

  • Participate in infection control practices and adhere to aseptic techniques.

  • Assist in patient follow-up as needed.

  • Respond appropriately in non-violent crisis situations.

Required Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication in English

  • Basic organizational abilities

  • Familiarity with medical terminology

  • Knowledge of infection control practices

  • Ability to work using aseptic techniques

Required Experience & Certifications:

  • Basic EKG knowledge (hospital training provided)

  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Phlebotomy training/state certification to be completed within 12 months of hire

  • Annual non-violent crisis intervention training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • California-licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)

  • Prior acute hospital experience as an ED Technician, CNA, or nursing student

  • Basic computer skills (Windows environment)
