Advanced EMT (AEMT) / EMT / Paramedic

NaphCare is seeking dedicated Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMTs), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), and Paramedics to join its healthcare team at the Arizona Department of Corrections – Perryville in Goodyear, Arizona. This position offers the opportunity to provide essential medical care within a secure correctional environment while working alongside correctional officers and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.

Hourly pay ranges from $23.00 to $24.00, depending on certification level, experience, assigned shift, and facility requirements.

Position Overview

As a member of the correctional healthcare team, you will assess and treat patients, respond to medical emergencies, assist with routine healthcare services, and help maintain a safe clinical environment. Every day presents new challenges while allowing you to make a meaningful impact on patient health and well-being.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and deliver appropriate emergency care
  • Perform patient assessments, obtain medical histories, and evaluate current health concerns
  • Measure and document vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, and weight
  • Collect blood samples and assist with diagnostic procedures as authorized
  • Complete intake medical screenings for newly admitted individuals
  • Administer medications and perform tuberculosis (PPD) testing when required
  • Maintain accurate patient records, treatment documentation, and medication histories
  • Monitor patient conditions and promptly report significant physical or mental health changes to nursing staff
  • Assist with inventory, maintenance, and organization of medical equipment and supplies
  • Support safe patient movement and help maintain security during clinical procedures and medical transports
  • Follow all correctional healthcare policies, safety protocols, and confidentiality requirements

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an EMT or Paramedic training program
  • Eligible to obtain or currently possess the required Arizona EMT or Paramedic certification
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Current or eligible for American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with behavioral health or substance use disorders
  • Commitment to confidentiality, ethical conduct, and compliance with correctional healthcare standards
  • Ability to pass a criminal background investigation and drug screening

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Capable of lifting or assisting patients weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and perform physically demanding patient care tasks, including CPR
  • Maintain stamina and balance throughout extended work shifts
