Key Responsibilities
Provide emergency and non-emergency medical care and safely transport patients
Assess patient condition, perform triage, and implement appropriate treatments
Administer care under standing orders and Medical Director protocols
Communicate patient status to receiving hospitals and complete accurate ePCR documentation
Operate ambulances safely and maintain compliance with laws and agency policies
Ensure ambulance equipment, supplies, and communications are ready for service
Assist in patient extrication, scene management, and multi-agency coordination (law enforcement, fire, healthcare)
Deliver compassionate, high-quality patient care at all times
Support public health emergencies and disaster response efforts as needed
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Current Texas DSHS Advanced EMT certification (no unresolved complaints)
Current American Heart Association CPR certification
Ability to obtain Medical Director protocol certification within 30 days of hire
Strong EMS knowledge, patient advocacy, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
Valid Texas driver’s license (or ability to obtain) with an acceptable driving record
Ability to pass written exam, skills testing, physical exam, and agility test
Meet immunization, background check, DMV/MVR, and drug screening requirements
Previous AEMT experience preferred but not required; equivalent combinations of education and experience considered
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Lift and carry patients and equipment (up to 250 lbs. with assistance)
Work in fast-paced, high-stress, and physically demanding settings
Possible exposure to weather conditions, bodily fluids, and emergency scenes
Maintain stamina for CPR and emergency interventions
Availability for evenings, weekends, and disaster response duties
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA
