Job Description

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and functions as an active member of the clinical care team, supporting patient care activities within the assigned hospital department.

Saint Francis Hospital–Memphis is a 479-bed full-service medical center located in Memphis, Tennessee. Responsibilities

  • Support patient care delivery under the direction of nursing staff

  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures

  • Perform basic clinical care tasks in accordance with hospital policies

  • Carry out routine treatments such as wound care, dressing changes, enemas, catheter care, and patient positioning

  • Assist patients with mobility, hygiene, nutrition, and comfort needs

  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow established clinical protocols

  • Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure efficient patient flow and care coordination

  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the supervising nurse or department leadership


Requirements

Education:

  • Completion of an accredited EMT Intermediate or Paramedic program

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Current Tennessee EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic license

  • Valid BLS/CPR certification (AHA or American Red Cross)

  • CPI certification required within 90 days of hire

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience working as an EMT in a healthcare or hospital setting
