Medical Assistant / EMT – Float (Full-Time)

HealthPartners is seeking a flexible and patient-focused Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our float team. This position supports multiple clinic locations, primarily serving St. Paul Wabasha, Woodbury, Inver Grove Heights, and Bloomington, with opportunities to assist additional sites as needed. You’ll work alongside providers in both the Foot & Ankle and Urology departments while helping deliver outstanding patient care across a variety of clinical settings.

Sign-on bonus available for eligible candidates.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and prepare patients for appointments by collecting vital signs, medical histories, and other clinical information.
• Assist physicians and nursing staff with examinations, treatments, and office-based procedures.
• Administer medications and perform approved clinical tasks according to established protocols.
• Monitor patient conditions, recognize urgent concerns, and notify providers when additional care is needed.
• Educate patients using approved health materials and answer routine questions regarding treatment plans.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Prepare examination and procedure rooms while ensuring all equipment and supplies are clean, organized, and ready for use.
• Process prescription refill requests, laboratory orders, referrals, and provider communications.
• Sterilize instruments and follow OSHA, infection prevention, and safety standards.
• Maintain inventory levels, monitor expiration dates, and ensure medical equipment is properly maintained.
• Support efficient clinic operations by coordinating communication between providers, staff, and patients.
• Float between assigned clinic locations to meet operational needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program.
• Current EMT license (if applying as an EMT) or Medical Assistant credentials as required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Previous clinical experience is preferred but not required.
