Position: Medical Assistant
Reports To: Nursing Supervisor
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Non-Exempt (Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.)
Department: Nursing Services
Hiring Bonus: $1,000 after 90 days

Primary Purpose:
The Medical Assistant provides support to licensed independent practitioners (LIPs) in patient care, helping ensure comfort, safety, and the highest standard of care. This role works closely with RNs, LPNs, and other staff to deliver coordinated patient-centered services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms and assist in patient rooming according to TPC protocols, including accurately taking vital signs and documenting in the EHR.
  • Communicate patient concerns, prioritize needs, and coordinate follow-up with clinicians.
  • Support LIPs with diagnostic, surgical, and in-office procedures, including EKGs, minor wound care, sutures/staples removal, nebulizer treatments, vaccinations, and PFT/spirometry tests.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas, instruments, and shared spaces in compliance with OSHA and TPC standards.
  • Manage administrative tasks, including scheduling, patient communications (calls, MyChart messages, prescription requests, referrals), prior authorizations, and EHR documentation.
  • Serve as an active member of the patient care team in a patient-centered medical home.
  • Mentor and train new staff or students, float between departments as needed, and participate in branch meetings, committees, and daily huddles.
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA and OSHA guidelines to safeguard patients and staff.
  • Contribute to a cooperative, professional, and respectful work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

Requirements:

  • Current Medical Assistant (MA) Certification or completion within 90 days of hire, with documentation within 120 days.
  • OR current Oregon EMT license (basic or advanced) and national NREMT registration.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification.

  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
