Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Sports Medicine & Event Coverage

Location: Boalsburg, PA (near State College)
Employment Type: Part-Time (W-2)
Season: Fall Sports Season
Schedule: Approximately 10 hours per week, Monday–Friday afternoons and evenings
Pay: $26.00–$30.00 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to provide medical coverage for high school athletic events during the upcoming fall sports season. This role is ideal for EMS professionals looking to supplement their current schedule while remaining active in patient care. Working alongside Certified Athletic Trainers, you’ll deliver prompt medical assistance, injury assessment, and emergency stabilization in a collaborative sports medicine environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency medical support during athletic practices and competitions
  • Evaluate and stabilize injured athletes within the EMT scope of practice
  • Respond to medical emergencies, including cardiac events, heat-related illnesses, traumatic injuries, and environmental emergencies
  • Treat minor wounds, soft tissue injuries, and other sports-related conditions
  • Complete accurate and timely patient care documentation for every medical encounter
  • Coordinate effectively with athletic trainers, coaches, school personnel, athletes, and families
  • Ensure all care is delivered according to established medical protocols and safety standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of EMT experience
  • Previous experience providing medical coverage at sporting events, tournaments, or public events is preferred
  • Ability to make sound clinical decisions independently in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for sports medicine and high-quality patient care

Requirements

  • Active Pennsylvania EMT certification
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR-AED) certification for Healthcare Providers
  • Ability to complete required Pennsylvania school clearances and background screenings, including mandated reporter training
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
  • Physical ability to lift, move, and assist injured patients when necessary
