Overview

Job Summary

Provides emergency medical care and safely transports ill or injured individuals to appropriate healthcare facilities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to directions from emergency medical dispatch and operate emergency vehicles to assigned locations

  • Maintain continuous communication with dispatch throughout responses

  • Evaluate patient condition to determine the severity of illness or injury and identify required care or additional resources

  • Deliver approved basic life support care at the scene or during transport

  • Coordinate with medical staff at receiving facilities to relay patient information and receive further treatment guidance

  • Assist with patient extrication, movement, and safe transfer to healthcare facilities

  • Support hospital staff by collecting and documenting patient information related to the incident

  • Perform routine inspection, cleaning, and upkeep of ambulances, medical supplies, and communication equipment

  • Complete patient care reports and other required documentation accurately and on time

  • Assist healthcare professionals with patient care upon arrival at medical facilities

Qualifications

Education & Certification:

  • National Registry EMT-B or State EMT-B

  • EMT-A (where applicable)

  • Current CPR certification

Experience:

  • Valid and current certifications and licensure required for the role
