Position Overview

Amphibious Medics is looking for a qualified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join its team as a Health & Safety Medical Technician (HSMT). This position provides an opportunity to use emergency medical training in occupational health, workplace injury management, and job site safety.

Unlike traditional ambulance-based EMS roles, this position focuses on providing onsite medical assistance, responding to workplace emergencies, supporting injury recovery, and helping maintain a safe working environment. The technician will work closely with construction employees, site managers, and safety teams to promote employee health and provide timely medical support.

This part-time opportunity is well suited to an experienced EMT seeking flexible work and professional growth beyond conventional emergency medical services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • First Aid and Triage: Evaluate workplace injuries and illnesses, provide appropriate first aid, and recommend or arrange outside medical evaluation when necessary.
  • Emergency Medical Response: Respond to onsite incidents, perform CPR, and deliver emergency care within the authorized scope of practice.
  • Medical Documentation: Maintain accurate onsite medical records, update electronic databases, and document employee encounters.
  • Medical Equipment Management: Monitor inventory, restock medical supplies, and clean equipment used during treatment.
  • Injury Follow-Up: Coordinate with external healthcare providers regarding employee injuries and recovery progress, and provide follow-up support as appropriate.
  • Daily Activity Reports: Prepare regular reports documenting medical activities and communicate relevant information to site safety personnel and management.
  • Worksite Safety Engagement: Conduct routine site walks to interact with workers, supervisors, and managers and identify potential health concerns.
  • Health Fair Coordination: Assist with organizing annual, semiannual, or quarterly workplace health fairs.
  • Safety Meetings: Participate in medical and safety awareness meetings to encourage injury prevention and safe work practices.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • At least one year of full-time experience in 911 emergency medical response.

  • Current CPR certification, such as Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers or Professional Rescuers.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and navigate active construction sites, including stairs.
  • Ability to carry medical equipment weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Physical capability to respond to medical emergencies, perform CPR, and assist with moving injured or incapacitated individuals when required.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications that may strengthen an application include:

  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, including 29 CFR 1910.
  • Experience providing medical support on large construction projects.
  • Knowledge of workers’ compensation procedures and workplace injury management.
