Position Purpose

This role supports patient care within a medical office setting under the supervision of a physician, advanced practice provider, registered nurse, or department manager. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the position may also assist with administrative tasks to ensure smooth daily operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist healthcare providers during visits
  • Administer medications and injections, provide wound care, and support minor procedures
  • Communicate physician instructions clearly to patients and offer guidance based on established protocols
  • Collect and record patient information, including vital signs and medical history, within the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical instruments and ensure adequate supply levels
  • Perform designated laboratory tests and procedures
  • Support front office duties, including scheduling, patient communication, and coordination with insurance providers
  • Handle patient calls, triage concerns, and respond to messages in a timely manner
  • Educate patients on medications, treatments, and care plans
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by department leadership

Qualifications

Required

  • Current CMA or RMA certification from an accredited organization
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program or Associate’s degree
  • BLS/CPR certification

Preferred

  • At least one year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting

Physical Requirements

  • Regular standing and walking throughout the workday
  • Frequent sitting as needed
  • Occasional bending, crouching, and lifting
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring physical mobility and endurance
