Position Purpose
This role supports patient care within a medical office setting under the supervision of a physician, advanced practice provider, registered nurse, or department manager. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the position may also assist with administrative tasks to ensure smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist healthcare providers during visits
- Administer medications and injections, provide wound care, and support minor procedures
- Communicate physician instructions clearly to patients and offer guidance based on established protocols
- Collect and record patient information, including vital signs and medical history, within the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical instruments and ensure adequate supply levels
- Perform designated laboratory tests and procedures
- Support front office duties, including scheduling, patient communication, and coordination with insurance providers
- Handle patient calls, triage concerns, and respond to messages in a timely manner
- Educate patients on medications, treatments, and care plans
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned by department leadership
Qualifications
Required
- Current CMA or RMA certification from an accredited organization
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program or Associate’s degree
- BLS/CPR certification
Preferred
- At least one year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting
Physical Requirements
- Regular standing and walking throughout the workday
- Frequent sitting as needed
- Occasional bending, crouching, and lifting
- Ability to perform tasks requiring physical mobility and endurance
