Advanced EMT / EMT / Paramedic – Correctional Healthcare

NaphCare is seeking qualified Advanced EMTs (AEMTs), EMTs, and Paramedics to provide healthcare services within the Arizona Department of Corrections in Phoenix, Arizona. This position offers the opportunity to deliver patient-centered care in a secure correctional setting while working alongside correctional staff and an experienced multidisciplinary medical team.

Hourly compensation ranges from $23.00 to $24.00, depending on certification level, experience, shift assignment, and facility requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide appropriate emergency care within your certification level.
• Perform patient evaluations, obtain medical histories, and assess current health concerns.
• Record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, and other clinical measurements.
• Collect blood specimens and assist with diagnostic procedures when needed.
• Complete intake medical screenings for newly admitted individuals.
• Administer medications and perform tuberculosis (PPD) testing according to established protocols.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation, including treatments, medications, and medical histories.
• Monitor patient conditions and report significant physical or behavioral changes to nursing staff or providers.
• Assist in maintaining medical equipment, supplies, and treatment areas.
• Support safe patient movement and medical transport while following correctional security procedures.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and correctional personnel to promote patient health and facility safety.

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited EMT, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic training program.
• Eligibility to obtain Arizona EMT or Paramedic certification.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Current or eligible Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to care for patients from diverse backgrounds, including individuals with behavioral health or substance use disorders.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with correctional healthcare policies and ethical standards.
• Successful completion of required background screening and drug testing.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Lift and move patients weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Perform bending, reaching, squatting, pushing, pulling, and other physically demanding activities.
• Maintain the endurance necessary to perform CPR and other emergency interventions throughout the workday.
