Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)

Pafford EMS is seeking a dedicated Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) care to patients experiencing medical emergencies and traumatic injuries. This role requires strong clinical judgment, leadership in the field, and the ability to deliver high-quality pre-hospital care while working closely with fellow EMS professionals, first responders, and healthcare providers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide advanced pre-hospital medical care to critically ill and injured patients.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and determine appropriate treatment plans within the AEMT scope of practice.
  • Utilize advanced skills such as intravenous (IV) and intraosseous (IO) access, advanced airway management, medication administration, fluid therapy, defibrillation, and other approved ALS procedures.
  • Monitor patient condition throughout treatment and transport while adjusting care as necessary.
  • Coordinate patient care with medical control physicians and follow established treatment protocols when direct consultation is unavailable.
  • Lead and direct on-scene medical operations while collaborating with EMTs, emergency responders, law enforcement, and fire personnel.
  • Safely transport patients to hospitals while maintaining continuous patient monitoring.
  • Complete detailed electronic patient care reports and ensure accurate clinical documentation.
  • Inspect, clean, and restock ambulances and medical equipment to maintain operational readiness.
  • Assist with technical rescue operations when required.
  • Participate in training activities and provide guidance to less experienced EMS personnel.
  • Follow all company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; college coursework is preferred.
  • Current and unrestricted Advanced EMT (AEMT) certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Completion of EVOC or CEVO emergency vehicle operations training.
  • FEMA IS-800 and NIMS 700 certifications required; ICS 100 and 200 required, with ICS 300 and 400 preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, move, and assist patients in a variety of emergency situations and challenging environments.
  • Capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to operate emergency vehicles and medical equipment safely.
  • Must be able to see, hear, communicate effectively, and perform physically demanding patient care tasks.
