Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) – Full-Time

Cumberland Goodwill EMS is seeking dedicated and compassionate Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMTs) to provide high-quality pre-hospital emergency care to patients throughout the community. This position plays an important role in responding to medical emergencies, delivering advanced patient care, and ensuring safe transportation to appropriate healthcare facilities.

Position Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls while providing timely and effective medical care.
• Safely operate EMS vehicles while following traffic laws, weather conditions, and department procedures.
• Receive dispatch information and determine the safest and most efficient route to emergency locations.
• Perform scene assessments to ensure the safety of patients, crew members, and bystanders.
• Conduct detailed patient evaluations, including medical history and physical assessments.
• Develop and provide appropriate treatment plans based on EMS protocols and medical direction.
• Deliver advanced EMT-level care to sick and injured patients in pre-hospital environments.
• Provide reassurance and professional support to patients, families, and bystanders during stressful situations.
• Follow all regulations related to patient privacy, documentation, and handling of deceased individuals.
• Communicate accurate patient information to receiving facilities and higher-level medical providers.
• Complete detailed patient care reports and all required documentation in accordance with company standards.
• Maintain ambulance readiness by checking equipment, replacing supplies, and ensuring vehicles are prepared for response.
• Stay current with EMS protocols, medical advancements, and required continuing education.
• Participate in organizational activities that support a professional, ethical, and effective EMS system.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Pennsylvania Advanced EMT certification.
• Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
• Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Emergency Medical Vehicle Operator certification within 30 days of hire.
• Hazardous Materials Awareness training.
• OSHA-approved Infection Control training within 30 days of hire.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
• Successful completion of required background checks and driving record review.
• Completion of continuing education requirements established by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Physical Requirements

The AEMT must be able to safely perform physically demanding emergency medical duties, including:

• Lifting and carrying equipment and patients.
• Pushing and pulling medical equipment.
• Navigating stairs, uneven terrain, and challenging environments.
• Operating medical devices and ambulance equipment.
• Working effectively in emergency situations involving physical and emotional stress.
