Position Overview — Advanced EMT (AEMT) The AEMT provides intermediate-level pre-hospital care: patient evaluation, treatment, stabilization, and safe transport. This role requires advanced training/licensure and the ability to perform clinically and physically demanding tasks in diverse environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide efficient, high-quality first aid, medical care, and ALS-level interventions per clinical protocols
  • Perform patient assessment, stabilization, packaging, and transport to appropriate facilities
  • Operate emergency vehicles and clinical equipment; maintain readiness, cleanliness, and inventory
  • Communicate and coordinate with dispatch, hospitals, law enforcement, and fire personnel
  • Complete accurate patient care reports and maintain records for vehicles, supplies, and training
  • Assist with technical rescues and other assigned duties

Minimum Qualifications & Required Attachments

  • Current AHA BLS Provider card
  • Valid State of Idaho AEMT card and/or National Registry AEMT certification; out-of-state AEMT certification acceptable if applicant can obtain Idaho licensure as a condition of employment
  • Former military applicants: DD Form 214 (Report of Separation)
  • Ability to meet physical demands (see below) and pass background check/drug screening

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling (up to 125 lbs alone; 250 lbs with assistance)
  • Work across varied terrain and in all weather conditions; tasks may require stamina, agility, and good vision/hearing
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, bloodborne pathogens, and other health risks
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shift schedules
