Job Description – Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Overview
This position provides emergency medical care at the EMT level and performs safe ambulance transport for patients experiencing illness or injury.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Must hold a current EMT license from the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, standing, and sitting; use of hands for handling tools and equipment; reaching and talking.

  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

  • Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds.

  • Must have normal color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision, with the ability to adjust focus.

Additional Requirements

  • Must not be listed on OIG or GSA sanction lists.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record meeting Cherokee Nation underwriting standards.

  • Maintain ongoing licensure and BLS certification.

  • Compliance with HIPAA regulations and strict confidentiality regarding patient information.

  • Completion of all required continuing education for licensure renewal as mandated by the Oklahoma State Department of Health/EMS Division.

  • Successful completion of pre-employment and periodic background checks, including child care adjudication.
