Position: Emergency Department Technician
Location: Beloit Memorial Hospital – Emergency Services
Shift: 1/2 varied & 3rd shift
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, varied start times
Hours: 36 hours per week

Beloit Memorial Hospital is seeking Emergency Department Technicians to join our Emergency Services team. This role supports nurses and emergency physicians by assisting with patient care, performing clinical duties, maintaining treatment areas, and ensuring efficient operations within the department.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient care tasks, including basic CNA duties, lab draws, EKGs, IVs, wound care, and ortho supplies

  • Apply specialized skills such as straight catheterization, specimen collection, splint application, suture set-up, eye irrigation, and crutch walking instruction

  • Maintain patient safety during transport and procedures

  • Conduct hourly rounding and monitor patient conditions, reporting changes to RN or supervisor

  • Adhere strictly to infection control policies and aseptic techniques

  • Participate in quality assurance activities such as chart audits

  • Record patient data, including vital signs, intake/output, weights, interventions, and observations

  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and protect patients from hazards

  • Assist with unit-specific duties and equipment maintenance

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Completion of EMT-Basic course, CNA program, military equivalent, or senior-level nursing student status

  • Current EMT-B or CNA certification required

  • CPR certification required within three months of hire

  • Phlebotomy training and occupational health post-accident training required

  • Minimum two years of clinical experience preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and remain calm in emergency situations

  • Physical ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, lift patients (up to 50 lbs), push transport carts (50–200 lbs), and perform fine motor tasks

  • Adequate vision and hearing to perform all job duties

Reports to: Registered Nurse, Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager, and Department Director
