Position Summary

We are seeking a qualified and dependable PRN EMT to deliver high-quality emergency medical care in alignment with state regulations and agency protocols. This role involves responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, providing both basic and advanced life support, and ensuring patient safety while operating in dynamic and physically demanding environments.


Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Emergency Response:

  • Provide on-site emergency care including basic and advanced life support.

  • Administer medications, monitor vital signs, control bleeding, assist with childbirth, and immobilize fractures.

  • Transport patients safely to medical facilities while maintaining effective communication with hospital staff, patients, families, and other emergency personnel.

  • Follow all state and local laws, agency protocols, and EMT scope of practice requirements.

Equipment & Facility Maintenance:

  • Inspect, clean, and maintain ambulances, medical instruments, and life support equipment.

  • Inventory and restock medical supplies and medications regularly.

  • Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the station and surrounding grounds.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Accurately document patient care, incident reports, and EMS logs.

  • Attend ongoing training and seminars to maintain certification and operational readiness.

  • Conduct public demonstrations and educational tours as needed.


Qualifications

Education & Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • State of Ohio EMT Certification required.

  • CPR Certification required.

  • Valid Ohio driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Experience:

  • Previous EMT experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in emergency patient assessment and treatment.

  • Ability to operate motor vehicles safely in emergency situations.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Capability to exercise sound judgment under stressful conditions.

  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 125 pounds.

  • Competency in using radios and maintaining accurate records.


Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Inherently Hazardous Conditions:

  • Exposure to loud noise, fumes, dust, hazardous substances, extreme temperatures, confined spaces, crowds, and potentially aggressive individuals or animals.

  • Operation around moving vehicles, electrical hazards, flammable or combustible materials, trenches, and excavations.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting.

  • Ability to transport patients using cots, stair chairs, and backboards over varying distances and levels.

  • Exposure to bodily fluids and other biohazards.
