Position: Paramedic
Shift: Full-time, 12- and 24-hour rotations
Department: Ambulance Services

Compensation:

  • Base pay: $19.15–$30.23/hour depending on experience

  • Special incentive: Extra $2.00/hour through 06/27/2026

  • Shift differential: $1.00/hour evenings and weekends, $2.00/hour nights

About the Role:
MU Health Care seeks a skilled, compassionate Paramedic to join our ambulance team. You will be on the frontlines of emergency care, providing life-saving interventions, assessing patient conditions, monitoring vital signs, and delivering critical medical support during emergencies. Key Responsibilities:

  • Document patient care, including State Ambulance reports, billing, and data entry

  • Serve as charge paramedic when needed: assign tasks, enforce policies, and provide guidance

  • Perform primary and secondary physical assessments and evaluate medical history

  • Interpret vital signs and administer appropriate interventions under stress

  • Operate emergency vehicles and communication equipment safely, following chain-of-command protocols

  • Participate in disaster response, including triage and care for radiation exposure victims

  • Support public and staff education initiatives

  • Perform additional department-specific duties as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Missouri EMT-P or EMT-CP license

  • Class E or higher chauffeur driver’s license for Missouri residents

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of paramedic experience

  • Additional licenses or certifications as determined by the department

Physical Requirements:

  • Active position requiring ambulation, lifting, reaching, and moving objects up to and over 20 lbs.

  • Exposure to patients with infectious diseases

  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, holidays, and in varying weather conditions
