Overview

Starting Salary: $87,880 – $113,568 annually. Based on a schedule of four 12-hour shifts per week (48 hours) at a base pay rate of $31.50-$42/hour. Initial pay is determined by prior supervisory, Paramedic, and SCT/CC experience.* In addition, eligible candidates receive a $10,000 Paramedic Sign-On/Retention Bonus paid over two years in quarterly installments** and an extra $2.00/hour for weekend shifts (Friday night through Monday morning).

Overview / Purpose

This role represents the company in leadership capacities, overseeing EMS operations while supporting the safety, readiness, and efficiency of all crews. Operating under general administrative supervision, the Supervisor manages staff performance, operational issues, and compliance with company policies. Supervisors act independently when needed and may delegate responsibilities to ensure continuous EMS coverage and high-quality patient care.

During shifts, the Supervisor ensures adherence to operational standards, serves as a point of contact for emergent issues, and provides guidance to personnel. Administrative responsibilities include performing delegated tasks, reporting to management, and ensuring operational and regulatory compliance.


Key Responsibilities

Paramedic Duties:

  • Report on time and ready for duty, free of impairment from illness, injury, or substances.

  • Execute EMT-B and AEMT intermediate skills and utilize all relevant equipment.

  • Apply Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) standards in patient care.

  • Operate cardiac monitors/defibrillators and administer intravenous medications and fluids competently.

  • Respond promptly to emergency calls, navigating routes efficiently and safely.

  • Assess scene safety, patient condition, and immediate medical needs.

  • Communicate with dispatch for additional support or resources when required.

  • Monitor and document patient vital signs and overall condition during care.

  • Assist with patient lifting, transport, and safe ambulance loading.

  • Report observations and care provided both verbally and in written form.

  • Inspect and maintain ambulance, equipment, and supplies, resolving minor issues independently.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Evaluate arriving personnel for readiness, fitness, and adherence to policy.

  • Address start-of-shift issues, including equipment concerns, team conflicts, or uniform standards.

  • Facilitate emergency crew adjustments to ensure uninterrupted EMS operations.

  • Act as a clinical resource to guide quality patient care.

  • Communicate operational issues from crews to the Operations Coordinator.

  • Investigate and respond to complaints from agencies, facilities, patients, and families.

  • Implement and monitor workplace safety protocols, reporting findings and improvements.

  • Conduct investigations into on-duty injuries or policy violations, focusing on prevention and corrective actions.

  • Enforce company policies through clear communication, informal counseling, or progressive disciplinary measures.

  • Assist in OSHA-required fit testing and maintain inventory of related supplies.

  • Participate in the Employee Recognition Program by identifying and nominating staff for acknowledgment.


Required Qualifications

  • Current NYS AEMT-Paramedic certification and ability to maintain it.

  • Proficient in EMT-B and AEMT intermediate skills and equipment.

  • Experienced with ACLS and BTLS protocols.

  • Skilled in using cardiac monitors, defibrillators, and intravenous medications/fluids.

  • Understanding of company operational policies.

  • Flexible availability for nights and weekends.

  • Valid Class “D” NYS Driver License (or equivalent) with no record of suspension/revocation; insurable to operate emergency vehicles.

  • Minimum age of 18 by the last day of the month prior to written certification exam.

  • Ability to communicate effectively by phone and radio.

  • Capable of lifting, carrying, and balancing up to 125 lbs (250 lbs with assistance).

  • Ability to interpret written, oral, and diagnostic instructions.

  • Conduct patient interviews with family members and bystanders.

  • Maintain prolonged patient contact when needed.

  • Participate in long-distance transports and document all patient care accurately.

  • Minimum one year of high-volume EMS experience.

  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
