Snohomish County Fire District #5 is actively recruiting Firefighter/Paramedics, including both new and lateral candidates.
We are looking for individuals who excel in rural or semi-rural environments and thrive within a tight-knit team of emergency responders. Successful candidates demonstrate high emotional intelligence, strong ethical standards, exceptional communication skills, and confidence in handling emergency situations that may occur in remote areas.
Firefighter/Paramedics in our District respond to a wide range of calls—from standard 911 emergencies to complex technical rescues requiring specialized equipment and coordinated team efforts. Candidates should be eager to participate in service improvement initiatives and pursue ongoing personal and professional development.
New Paramedic Firefighters will immediately enter the Snohomish County Paramedic Onboarding and Mentoring Program, alongside training in fire operations, driver/operator competencies, and other required certifications.
Minimum Qualifications – Entry Level:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English

Valid Washington State Driver’s License

Current NREMT Paramedic credential (or ability to obtain)

ACLS and PALS certification (or equivalent)

Ability to pass a full background investigation

Preferred: Firefighter I & HazMat Awareness certifications
Lateral Candidate Requirements:

Firefighter II certification and HazMat Operations
-
At least 3 years of prior paid firefighting experience

ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 certifications

Driver/Operator experience
