Position Overview
The City of Wilmer is seeking skilled professionals to perform specialized duties in fire and emergency services. Responsibilities include fire suppression, emergency medical response, technical rescues, hazardous materials management, fire prevention and inspections, administrative tasks, and other specialized assignments as required by the department.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in Fire Science at the college level is a plus.

  • Current Paramedic certification meeting Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) standards.

  • Up-to-date certifications from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) as required.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and eligibility to obtain a Texas Class B Exempt Driver’s License within 12 months of hire.

  • Required certifications:

    • TCFP Basic Firefighter

    • TDSHS Paramedic

  • Paramedic candidates must complete all required Firefighter certifications within 18 months of employment.

  • Preference will be given to candidates certified as both Firefighter and Paramedic.
