Job Description
This position responds to a wide range of emergencies, including fires, medical incidents, vehicle collisions, rescues, and other urgent situations, with the goal of safeguarding lives and property. Personnel actively engage in ongoing training, drills, self-directed learning, and fire prevention initiatives to maintain readiness and professional competency.
Duties include suppressing fires in accordance with established department standards, minimizing risks posed by fire and other hazards, and delivering basic life support as a first responder during medical emergencies. The role also involves the operation, care, and routine maintenance of fire apparatus, tools, and related equipment.
Team members are expected to contribute to all aspects of company operations, such as public education, pre-incident planning, fire prevention efforts, training activities, and required documentation and reporting. Professional conduct is essential, with an emphasis on building positive relationships within the community and interacting with the public in a respectful, courteous, and reliable manner at all times.
About the Department
Amador Fire provides emergency and fire protection services to approximately 22,000 residents across nearly 491 square miles of Amador County. The service area includes rural communities such as Pine Grove, Plymouth, Fiddletown, Martell, River Pines, Willow Creek, and the Jackson Rancheria region. This role supports both daily emergency response operations and long-term community safety, preparedness, and prevention efforts.
