Position Overview:
CHI St. Francis Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Paramedic (EMT-P) for a 13-week travel assignment. This role involves providing advanced pre-hospital and inter-facility patient care within a multidisciplinary team environment. The position requires experience in ALS-level interventions and the ability to manage a variety of patient populations, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver professional, high-quality care to patients in both pre-hospital and hospital settings.

Assess, treat, and document patient conditions accurately and promptly.

Administer medications in compliance with the “Five Rights” of patient care.

Identify high-risk situations and communicate significant patient changes to supervisors.

Assist with patient transfers to other facilities or levels of care when needed.

Operate and maintain equipment used in ambulances or hospital transport (e.g., CPAP, BiPAP, ventilators).

Perform ALS procedures, including IV therapy, titration of drips (nitroglycerin, heparin, vasopressors, fluids), and intubation (preferred).

Coordinate with ancillary departments to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Follow established protocols per Standing Orders, Medical Director, and State Guidelines.

Provide supervision and ensure safety of staff, patients, and bystanders during care.

Maintain clear and accurate documentation using Point Click Care (PCC).

Respond to 911 calls and conduct inter-facility transfers; may intercept with volunteer squads if ALS care is required.

Adhere to scheduled rotations, including weekends, holidays, and on-call duties as defined.
Required Qualifications:

Active Paramedic license and NREMT-P certification, valid in the assigned state.

Minimum of 1 year experience in ALS care.

Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.

Proof of privilege to practice in applicable states.

Valid driver’s license.

Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with intubation and critical care interventions.

Prior work in trauma, emergency, or 911 response settings.
Shift & Schedule Details:

Typical rotation: 24 hours on, 24 hours on call, 96 hours off.

Dress code: Navy blue or black pants with department-provided shirt.

No clinical duties within the ED; role focuses on 911 response and patient transfers.
