EMS Educator (Part-Time)

Skilled US is seeking a dedicated EMS Educator to deliver engaging emergency medical services instruction to high school students participating in career and technical education programs. This part-time role combines classroom teaching, practical skills training, clinical experiences, and career mentorship to prepare students for future success in emergency medical services.

The successful candidate will foster an interactive learning environment while helping students develop the knowledge, practical skills, and professional behaviors required for entry into EMS careers.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom, laboratory, clinical, and field-based EMS instruction using age-appropriate teaching methods.
• Develop lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and industry expectations.
• Prepare students for EMS certification examinations and future educational or career opportunities.
• Create and administer written and practical assessments to measure student competency and progress.
• Supervise hands-on skills practice and work-based learning activities while maintaining a safe learning environment.
• Mentor students by providing academic guidance, encouragement, and career support.
• Coordinate clinical rotations, field experiences, and instructional schedules.
• Monitor attendance, maintain accurate educational records, and complete required reports.
• Communicate professionally with students, families, healthcare partners, and school personnel.
• Collaborate with fellow instructors and staff to improve instructional quality and program outcomes.
• Participate in curriculum development, continuing education, quality improvement initiatives, and professional meetings.
• Maintain instructional equipment, training materials, and laboratory supplies in safe working condition.
• Perform additional duties that support EMS education and program success.

Qualifications

• Current Indiana Paramedic License preferred; Indiana EMT-B certification or Registered Nurse licensure accepted. Candidates without Paramedic certification must be willing to complete an approved Paramedic program within one year of hire.
• Minimum of five years of pre-hospital clinical experience; Paramedic experience preferred.
• Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Current certifications including ACLS, AHA BLS/CPR, PEPP, EVOC, and at least two NAEMT provider certifications.
• Instructor certifications in CPR, ACLS, PEPP, and two NAEMT disciplines, or the ability to obtain them within one year.
• Primary EMS Instructor certification or willingness to complete certification after hire.
• NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 certifications required.
• Previous teaching experience, particularly with high school students, is highly desirable.
• Ability to successfully complete all background checks required for working with minors.

Work Environment

This position involves teaching in classrooms, simulation labs, clinical facilities, and approved field settings. Instructors may occasionally work at remote educational locations and participate in supervised field activities where environmental and operational hazards may be present. The role requires maintaining student confidentiality while following HIPAA and FERPA privacy standards.
