Job Description
Compensation: $18–$38 per hour
Positions Available: Full-Time and Part-Time
We are currently seeking certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to join our team in New York. This role involves delivering safe, professional patient care while ensuring compliance with all New York State and company regulations.
Required Credentials
Applicants must maintain:

A valid New York State EMT certification

A current New York State driver’s license (if required for assigned duties)

Compliance with all standards set by the New York State Department of Health and other governing regulatory agencies
The EMT assigned as the patient care attendant is accountable for all aspects of patient management, beginning with preparing the ambulance and equipment at the start of each shift.
Shift Start Responsibilities
EMTs must report to duty on time, dressed in proper uniform, with valid certification and company identification. Any personal medical equipment must be clean and operational. Failure to meet these standards may result in being unable to begin the shift.
Before leaving the station, the crew must:

Inspect the ambulance interior and exterior for cleanliness and damage

Confirm safe entry and exit through rear and side doors

Sanitize the patient compartment and equipment as needed

Complete the required inventory checklist (Part 800 supply list)

Replace missing or damaged supplies
-
Submit the signed inspection form to a supervisor
All ambulances must remain compliant with NYS DOH Sections 800.22, 800.23, and 800.24, as well as OSHA standards. Equipment must be functional, sanitary, and properly maintained at all times. Noncompliance may result in disciplinary action.
Duties During Shift
While on duty, EMTs are expected to:

Respond promptly to dispatch assignments

Provide care according to New York State BLS protocols and applicable ALS guidelines

Obtain necessary documentation from transferring facilities

Introduce themselves professionally and communicate clearly with patients
-
Inform patients about their destination and plan of care

Transport all patients via stretcher (no ambulatory transports)

Continuously monitor and document patient condition throughout transport

Adjust care appropriately if patient status changes

Ensure patients are safely transferred directly to assigned rooms or residences
-
Never leave a patient unattended at an entrance

Accurately complete patient care reports (PCRs)

Finalize all required documentation and billing signatures
-
Provide thorough handoff reports to receiving facility staff
-
Maintain professional and respectful interactions with healthcare personnel
-
Restock and prepare the ambulance for the next assignment
-
Notify dispatch of any destination changes
Patient care quality is our top priority. Documentation and clinical performance are routinely reviewed through Quality Assurance processes, and any deficiencies will be addressed per company policy.
State Inspections
Ambulances may undergo unannounced inspections by State EMS representatives. In the event of an inspection:

Notify dispatch immediately

Cooperate fully with the inspector

Demonstrate requested equipment or procedures

Submit inspection documentation to a supervisor at shift end

Inform dispatch of inspection results
If a violation is cited, contact a supervisor before accepting another assignment. Management will determine the appropriate course of action. Administrative issues will be corrected by leadership; performance-related issues may result in corrective measures.
End-of-Shift Responsibilities
At the conclusion of the tour:

Return the vehicle to the designated location

Secure the ambulance and all equipment

Replenish used supplies

Submit all documentation
-
Report any operational or patient care issues to a supervisor

Schedule
Permanent schedules may include evening shifts, overnight assignments, and alternating weekends.
