Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Join our urgent care team as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and help provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting. This position averages 28 hours per week, including rotating weekends, with weekday shifts of approximately 10.5 hours and weekend shifts of 8.5 hours. Occasional travel to nearby clinic locations may be required, with eligible mileage reimbursement.

Position Overview

Working under the guidance of healthcare providers and nursing staff, the EMT supports daily clinical operations while ensuring patients receive efficient, compassionate, and high-quality care. This role combines direct patient care, diagnostic testing, medical assistance, and administrative support to help deliver outstanding urgent care services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and provide outstanding customer service throughout their visit
  • Register patients, answer phone calls, and assist with general office duties
  • Obtain medical histories, document medications and allergies, and record vital signs
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during medical procedures
  • Perform diagnostic testing, including EKGs, vision screenings, height and weight measurements, and specimen collection
  • Conduct point-of-care laboratory testing such as influenza, COVID-19, strep, RSV, mononucleosis, Lyme disease, and urine testing
  • Administer medications, including intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, within certification guidelines
  • Apply splints and orthopedic support devices while educating patients on proper use
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and ensure compliance with patient privacy regulations
  • Follow up with patients regarding test results and post-visit care instructions
  • Keep examination rooms, equipment, and medical supplies organized and fully stocked
  • Assist front desk staff with administrative tasks when needed
  • Complete additional responsibilities assigned by clinical leadership

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
  • One to three years of related clinical experience preferred
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management software
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a healthcare team
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and rotating schedules
