Position Overview:
The Community EMT provides high-quality primary care and medical assessments for patients across varying levels of acuity in clinical and community settings. Responsibilities include conducting health evaluations, monitoring chronic conditions, educating patients, managing medications, collecting laboratory specimens, performing follow-up after hospital discharges, and assisting with minor medical procedures. This role requires both clinical expertise and compassion to address patients’ physical and emotional needs effectively.

The Community EMT works independently, exercises sound judgment, prioritizes care decisions, and responds quickly in dynamic situations. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to build rapport with patients, interact safely with challenging individuals, and communicate effectively across diverse cultural and age groups. This position thrives in unstructured, fast-changing environments and demands self-discipline, adaptability, and initiative.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Certified EMT with at least two years of field experience

  • Current Minnesota Community EMT certification or willingness to enroll in the training program upon hire

  • Nationally Registered EMT certification; current Minnesota and/or Wisconsin EMT licensure

  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Proficiency in English, including the ability to read, write, and speak fluently
