We are seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant for our Hickory location. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Role Overview:
The Clinical Assistant supports the delivery of orthopedic patient care, performing routine office procedures, assisting physicians and mid-level providers, educating patients, and coordinating care. This position ensures patients receive safe, efficient, and compassionate treatment throughout their visit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EPIC).

  • Perform phone triage, gather essential patient information, and communicate with providers.

  • Assist with casting, bracing, and routine orthopedic procedures.

  • Educate patients and families on care plans, treatments, and procedures.

  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of exam rooms and medical equipment.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency with EMR systems (EPIC preferred).

  • Strong communication skills with patients, families, and team members.

  • Ability to triage calls and relay accurate clinical information.

  • Patient education skills to explain procedures and care instructions clearly.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant, nursing, or athletic training program, or a related degree.

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) or equivalent national certification through AAMA, NHA, ARMA, AMT, or AMCA.

  • EMTs require current EMT certification; ATCs must be board-certified Athletic Trainers.

  • New graduates are welcome to apply.

  • Active driver’s license and clean driving record; travel to other OC locations may be required.

Typical Day:
Clinical Assistants greet and escort patients, record vitals, medical histories, and medications, and assist with examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures such as suture/staple removal, injections, and casting/bracing. They also prepare and clean exam rooms and equipment, manage administrative tasks including supply orders, patient messages, prescription refills, filing, and monitoring EHR queues. Patient education is a key responsibility, ensuring instructions are clearly communicated before procedures.
