About Advocate Health
Redefining Healthcare for Everyone
Advocate Health is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, created when Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health merged their operations on December 2, 2022. We employ 155,000 teammates across 69 hospitals and over 1,000 care locations, making us one of the nation’s largest integrated health systems serving nearly 6 million patients across six states—Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.
Our Mission
Advocate Health is redefining how, when and where care is delivered to help people live well. We’re providing care for all in our communities and using our combined strength and expertise to deliver better outcomes at a lower cost.
Our faith-based mission centers on serving the health needs of individuals, families, and communities through a holistic philosophy that honors the dignity of every person. We believe there is a better way to deliver care—one that prioritizes access, equity, and excellence.
What Sets Us Apart
Clinical Excellence & Innovation
We are nationally recognized for our expertise in cardiology, neurosciences, oncology, pediatrics and rehabilitation, as well as organ transplants, burn treatments and specialized musculoskeletal programs.
Research & Academic Leadership
Each year our research physicians and faculty – with Wake Forest University School of Medicine – are leading or contributing to many of Advocate Health’s 2,600+ publications, 5,600+ clinical trials and $360 million in research funding. We offer one of the nation’s largest graduate medical education programs with over 2,000 residents and fellows across more than 200 programs.
Commitment to Communities
Founded more than 100 years ago by members of local faith communities, we continue that tradition today. We’re working to advance health equity and improve access and affordability for the people and communities we serve. We deliver billions of dollars in annual community benefit, including financial assistance, trauma care, and programs that address the root causes of health inequities.
Environmental Stewardship
We’re committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, recognizing that environmental health is inseparable from human health.
Our Values in Action
We affirm our unwavering commitment to lift everyone up by ensuring access and opportunity for all. Through compassionate care, innovative research, and dedicated service, we’re not just treating illness—we’re helping people live fully and creating healthier communities for generations to come.
Whether you’re seeking care at one of our hospitals, working with our employed physicians, or participating in groundbreaking clinical trials, you’ll experience the difference that comes from a health system built on faith, expertise, and a genuine commitment to your well-being.
