Job Description

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Full-Time

North State, part of the MMT Ambulance family, is hiring a Full-Time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to provide safe, compassionate interfacility patient transportation. Working a 24/72 schedule, you’ll play an important role in delivering high-quality Basic Life Support (BLS) services while supporting patients, hospitals, and healthcare partners throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Basic Life Support (BLS) care within the scope of your EMT certification.
  • Safely transport patients between healthcare facilities while ensuring comfort and safety throughout each trip.
  • Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and respond appropriately to changing conditions.
  • Operate ambulances in compliance with traffic laws, company policies, and EMS regulations.
  • Complete accurate electronic patient care reports and maintain detailed medical documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, hospitals, dispatchers, and healthcare professionals.
  • Assist team members during patient transfers and provide clear handoff reports to receiving medical staff.
  • Inspect ambulances daily, maintain medical equipment, and restock supplies to ensure operational readiness.
  • Follow established safety procedures and maintain the highest standards of professionalism and patient care.

Qualifications

  • Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification meeting state requirements.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving history.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in fast-paced situations.

Physical Requirements

  • Safely operate emergency vehicles and medical equipment.
  • Lift and move patients and equipment weighing up to 125 pounds with assistance when necessary.
  • Push or pull equipment exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Frequently bend, kneel, sit, stand, and perform physically demanding patient transfers.
  • Comfortable working extended ambulance shifts, including 24-hour schedules.
  • Able to perform effectively in both physically demanding and high-pressure emergency situations.
