Job Summary
LifeMed Alaska is currently hiring a full-time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for its Ground Operations team based in Anchorage. This role follows a Kelly-style schedule consisting of three 24-hour shifts with 24 hours off between shifts, followed by a four-day break rotation.
Under the supervision of the shift lead, the EMT will assist in delivering, coordinating, evaluating, and documenting patient care in the pre-hospital environment. This includes supporting patients with both routine and complex medical needs while maintaining a safe, organized, and professional care setting. All responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with company protocols, medical director guidelines, and established medical operations procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient care in pre-hospital and emergency settings under medical direction
- Assess, treat, and transport patients safely to appropriate healthcare facilities
- Operate emergency vehicles in compliance with all applicable laws and company policies
- Safely lift, move, and transfer patients using approved equipment and techniques
- Ensure ambulances are fully stocked, clean, and operational before and after each shift
- Perform routine equipment checks and report any maintenance or safety concerns
- Maintain familiarity with all required medical and transport equipment
- Accurately document all patient care activities using approved reporting systems
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including station quarters
- Participate in continuing education, refresher courses, and required training sessions
- Follow safety protocols and maintain constant situational awareness while on duty
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervisors or management
Quality Assurance & Professional Development
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement programs
- Contribute to improving operational efficiency, safety, and patient care standards
- Engage in patient follow-up activities when required for QA purposes
- Maintain all required certifications and complete ongoing education requirements
- Seek opportunities for continuous professional growth and skill development
- Support the development of improved care standards and operational practices
Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
Experience:
- Minimum of two years’ experience as a licensed driver preferred
Licensing & Certification:
- Valid State of Alaska EMT certification (level dependent on role)
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) certification(s) required
- Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operator Safety (EVOS) or equivalent training (renewed every 2 years)
- Must be able to pass required background checks and security clearance processes
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to safely operate emergency and transport vehicles
- Strong communication skills in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Ability to remain alert and perform effectively in high-pressure environments
- Regular attendance is required
