Job Description

The City of McMinnville Fire Department is seeking motivated individuals with a strong commitment to public service. Firefighters play a vital role in protecting lives and property by responding to emergencies, providing medical assistance, and performing firefighting duties throughout the City.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Firefighter I: $39,355 โ€“ $41,769

  • Firefighter II: $43,704 โ€“ $46,356

  • Holidays: 14 paid holidays annually

  • Work Schedule: 24-hour shifts on a one-day-on, two-days-off rotation

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driverโ€™s license

  • Completion of Firefighter Commission Levels 1 & 2 within 3 years of hire

  • Emergency Medical Responder certification within one year of hire

  • Physical ability to wear full protective gear and self-contained breathing apparatus for extended periods


Key Responsibilities

  • Rescue individuals from dangerous situations and administer first aid

  • Respond to fires, connect hoses, operate nozzles, and direct water streams

  • Gain entry to buildings for firefighting, rescue, or salvage operations; use chemical extinguishers and other firefighting tools

  • Perform physically demanding tasks in smoke-filled or confined environments

  • Carry charged hoses and position ladders to access elevated areas

  • Participate in training for firefighting, first aid, and emergency response

  • Conduct hose testing, fire hydrant flow testing, and equipment inspections

  • Maintain fire department facilities and equipment

  • Receive and relay messages via radio and telephone
