Position Overview

The EMT at Wild Rivers is responsible for delivering prompt and professional emergency medical care to park guests and staff. This role helps maintain a safe environment by responding to injuries and medical incidents, supporting safety protocols, and working closely with lifeguards, management, and security personnel.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver immediate medical care, including assessment, treatment, stabilization, and coordination of patient transport, following California EMT regulations.

  • Respond efficiently to medical emergencies throughout the waterpark using CPR, first aid, and trauma-care protocols.

  • Maintain and monitor first-aid stations, medical supplies, AEDs, and equipment to ensure readiness and compliance.

  • Accurately document all medical incidents, treatments, and guest interactions in accordance with company policies and California EMS standards.

  • Collaborate with lifeguards, supervisors, security, and local EMS when additional support or transport is necessary.


Additional Duties

  • Participate in ongoing safety training and continuing education per California EMS and park policies.

  • Assist with non-medical incidents, lost children, and guest concerns as part of the parkโ€™s safety and service team.

  • Keep first-aid areas organized, clean, and professional.

  • Support lifeguard teams during major incidents or multiple-patient events.

  • Uphold standards for guest service, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, peak-season hours, and extended shifts in heat and high attendance conditions.


Qualifications

  • Valid California EMT certification (EMT-I or higher).

  • Current CPR/AED certification for healthcare providers (AHA or equivalent).

  • Prior experience in emergency response, lifeguarding, aquatics, or recreation environments is preferred.

  • Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-stress or life-threatening situations.

  • Proficiency in documentation, radio communication, and safety protocols.


Physical & Cognitive Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs across the park for extended periods.

  • Comfortable working in high heat, humidity, and sun exposure.

  • Ability to act quickly, think clearly, and recall EMS protocols under pressure.

  • Visual and auditory acuity to identify hazards, recognize emergencies, and communicate effectively.


Work Environment

  • Outdoor waterpark setting with exposure to sun, heat, chlorine, slippery surfaces, and high guest volume.

  • Frequent interaction with guests, including those who may be distressed or injured.

  • Use of personal protective equipment (gloves, masks, eye protection) when delivering care.

  • Variable shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak-season overtime.
