Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) is currently accepting applications for full-time EMT-Basic Student positions in Peoria through our paid training program. As a leading not-for-profit ambulance provider serving Central and Western Illinois and portions of Iowa, AMT is committed to delivering high-quality emergency and non-emergency medical transportation for the communities we serve.
Beginning May 4, 2026, selected candidates will participate in an intensive 8-week EMT-Basic training course while earning $16.42 per hour as full-time employees. Participants receive full employee benefits during training. Upon successful completion of the program and certification requirements, graduates transition into a full-time EMT-Basic role in Peoria with a pay increase. Applications must be submitted by March 29, 2026.
AMT EMTs provide care in emergency response situations, interfacility transports, and event standby assignments. Team members work 12-hour shifts across AMT operations.
Key Responsibilities

Assess patients and determine appropriate medical care

Deliver emergency treatment using approved EMS procedures and equipment

Accurately document patient assessments, care provided, and outcomes

Protect patient privacy and uphold patient rights at all times

Safely transport patients in accordance with established policies
-
Maintain ambulances to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper inventory levels

Operate emergency vehicles in compliance with traffic laws and company guidelines

Support paramedics during advanced life support interventions

Keep all required certifications current

Maintain professional conduct and represent AMT positively within the community

Minimum Requirements
-
Resume and letter of interest required with application

High school diploma or GED
-
Must be at least 18 years old by program completion

Valid Illinois driver’s license
-
Commitment to work full-time for AMT for at least one year after certification

Proof of current immunizations

Successful completion of AMT’s EMT entrance exam

Ability to pass a post-offer screening, including drug testing, physical exam, and physical ability assessment
