Firefighter–Paramedic / Firefighter–EMT
City of Middletown, Ohio

The City of Middletown is accepting applications to create an eligibility roster for the positions of Firefighter–Paramedic and Firefighter–EMT. Candidates will participate in an open, competitive hiring process that includes a written examination scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED, along with coursework in fire science, related training, or equivalent hands-on experience. A valid Ohio driver’s license is required.

Candidates must submit documentation showing current Ohio Firefighter and EMT certifications at the time of application, or proof of active enrollment in an approved Firefighter and EMT training program. Individuals applying for the Firefighter–Paramedic role must successfully obtain both Ohio Firefighter and State Paramedic certifications before appointment.

Selection Process

The hiring process may include the following steps:

  • Written examination

  • Oral interview

  • Polygraph examination

  • Medical evaluation

  • Drug screening

  • Physical ability assessment

Compensation & Benefits

  • Firefighter–EMT: Starting annual salary of $60,417

  • Firefighter–Paramedic: Starting annual salary of $69,142
