Note: Only candidates who are licensed EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic should apply.
Position Summary
The EMT provides both emergency and non-emergency pre-hospital care, as well as inter-facility patient transport, following all company-approved protocols, policies, and procedures. The role includes operating the emergency vehicle safely, communicating via two-way radio, and assisting on-scene with patient care. EMTs are also responsible for the cleanliness, maintenance, and security of the vehicle, including ensuring all equipment and supply inventories are properly maintained.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Deliver patient care in accordance with licensure, company protocols, policies, and applicable medical guidelines

Maintain proficiency and working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and other standards relevant to your certification level

Respond to assigned emergency and non-emergency calls safely, efficiently, and promptly

Complete accurate patient care documentation for every call, including required signatures, and submit reports at the end of each shift

Assist with vehicle cleaning, equipment checks, and inventory management

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel
Minimum Qualifications

Active EMT-B licensure and maintain current certification

Current BLS certification

Valid Georgia driver’s license

Clean driving record with no more than two moving violations in the past 36 months

Minimum age: 19 years
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
-
Strong understanding of on-scene emergency medical care techniques
-
Familiarity with local EMS, public safety systems, and regional emergency resources

Knowledge of state and federal ambulance billing procedures

Ability to read, understand, and interpret medical terminology

Ability to write reports, complete forms, and communicate effectively

Capable of maintaining positive relationships with colleagues, supervisors, patients, and other public service personnel

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to respond to questions about patient care and company operations
Physical Requirements

Frequent use of hands and arms, including handling, reaching, and manipulation of equipment
-
Regular standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, crouching, and climbing
-
Ability to lift up to 180 lbs regularly, and up to 300 lbs occasionally with assistance
-
Must be able to safely transfer patients using stair chairs, stretchers, and other medical equipment
-
Able to operate stretcher release mechanisms and lift/lower equipment requiring up to 35 lbs of bilateral force

Must climb in and out of ambulances repeatedly and work in confined spaces
-
Ability to tolerate heights up to 68” and exposure to various weather conditions
Working Environment
-
EMS work involves exposure to inclement weather, infectious diseases, and other hazardous conditions
-
Work may include irregular hours, high-pressure situations, frequent interruptions, and multiple simultaneous high-priority tasks
-
Travel may be required for meetings and training sessions outside normal working hours
