Position Overview

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) are frontline responders who deliver critical medical care during emergencies. Their role often involves providing immediate, lifesaving assistance to patients experiencing medical crises or traumatic events, including serious vehicle accidents and violent injuries. EMTs are trained to act quickly, assess situations accurately, and deliver care that stabilizes patients until they reach definitive medical treatment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer basic emergency care, including wound cleaning and bandaging

  • Perform life-saving interventions such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when required

  • Evaluate a patient’s condition and provide appropriate initial medical treatment

  • Decide whether patients require transport to an emergency department or specialized trauma facility

  • Work extended schedules, including 12-hour shifts and occasional 24-hour on-call coverage

  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with fire departments, law enforcement, and other emergency response agencies during incidents
