Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Northern California

AmWest is a fast-expanding emergency transport organization serving communities across California. We are currently hiring both full-time and part-time EMTs to support our Northern California operations based in Modesto, CA.

Positions are available within our BLS, ALS, and Critical Care Transport units, with scheduling options that may include 10-hour or 24-hour shifts depending on service demand. Newly certified EMTs are encouraged to apply.

Role Overview

The EMT position focuses on delivering timely pre-hospital care and ensuring safe, professional transport of patients between emergency scenes and medical facilities throughout Northern California. Candidates must demonstrate sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Core Duties

  • Deliver medical assistance during emergency responses and patient transfers

  • Follow all regional EMS guidelines, clinical protocols, and operational standards

  • Operate emergency vehicles responsibly under routine and high-pressure conditions

  • Assist patients with lifting, movement, loading, and unloading as required

  • Maintain readiness and proper use of medical equipment and onboard supplies

  • Communicate patient information clearly with dispatch centers and receiving facilities

  • Accurately complete patient care and transport documentation

  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and reporting requirements

  • Identify and report safety concerns, incidents, or unusual events

  • Respond promptly to dispatch assignments and transport requests

  • Maintain working knowledge of service areas, routes, and local hospitals

  • Collaborate effectively with partner EMTs during extended shifts in close working quarters

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Active California EMT certification

  • Current AHA BLS Provider card

  • Valid driver’s license and ambulance driver certification

  • Ability to meet physical demands of patient care and transport

  • Pay Range: $19.00 – $22.00 per hour
