This is a PRN (as-needed) position.

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides direct patient care under the supervision of licensed healthcare providers, following hospital protocols. All care and interventions are documented accurately.

Patient Population: All age groups

Education Requirements: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent vocational training

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Current Florida EMT license or Florida Paramedic license
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association

Experience:

  • Minimal clinical experience required (less than 1 year)
  • Preferred: 1+ year of healthcare experience

Essential Skills & Knowledge:

  1. Understanding of patient care and basic human needs across all ages
  2. Familiarity with medical terminology
  3. Knowledge of aseptic techniques
  4. Awareness of acute and chronic disease processes
  5. Understanding of universal precautions
  6. Basic anatomy and physiology knowledge
  7. Ability to recognize and respond to emergencies
  8. Maintain patient confidentiality
  9. Proficiency in English (reading and writing)
  10. Recognition of critical EKG rhythms
  11. Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs)
  12. IV line insertion
  13. Urinary catheter placement
  14. Gastric tube insertion
  15. Phlebotomy procedures
  16. Basic wound care
  17. Splinting musculoskeletal injuries
  18. Operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  19. Administer chest compressions
  20. Eye irrigation techniques
