Position: Part-Time EMT Instructor
Location: Lake County Campus – Clear Lake, California

Overview

Woodland Community College’s Lake County Campus is building an ongoing pool of qualified adjunct instructors to teach Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) courses. These part-time teaching opportunities are filled throughout the year as instructional needs arise. Applicants selected for the pool may be contacted at any time during the academic cycle, and the pool is renewed every two years to ensure an active and current group of educators.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and teach EMT lectures and laboratory sessions for up to 10 hours per week

  • Apply effective instructional strategies to support student engagement and success

  • Teach flexible schedules, including daytime, evening, weekend, accelerated, and distance-learning formats

  • Evaluate and document Student Learning Outcomes each semester

  • Provide prompt feedback, maintain accurate grading records, and post grades on schedule

  • Respond to student inquiries in a timely and professional manner

  • Participate in department, division, or college initiatives and committees on a voluntary basis

Essential Expectations

  • Demonstrate awareness of and respect for the diverse academic, cultural, socioeconomic, and learning backgrounds of community college students

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher and at least two years of professional experience in emergency medical technology, including any required licenses or certifications

  • Associate degree and a minimum of six years of professional EMT experience with required certifications

  • Equivalent qualifications as determined through the YCCD Equivalency Application process

Compensation

  • Lecture pay ranges from $53.28 to $88.75 per hour, based on education and teaching experience

  • Placement is determined by the YCAFT salary schedule (2024–2027 contract)

Benefits

  • This position is part-time (less than 0.60 FTE) and does not include district-paid benefits
