Minnesota Community Care is the largest Federally Qualified Health Center in the state, dedicated to expanding access to affordable, high-quality healthcare for the communities we serve. The majority of our patient population includes individuals from historically underserved backgrounds, with approximately 80% identifying as people of color and 61% experiencing limited financial resources. Position Summary
The Medical Assistant/Clinic EMT plays a vital role in supporting clinical providers by delivering hands-on patient care in a diverse outpatient clinic environment. This position is responsible for assisting with daily clinical operations, providing direct patient support, and promoting overall health and wellness. Key functions include patient intake, vital sign collection, documentation, appointment coordination, and patient education.
Key Responsibilities

Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for their appointments

Collect, verify, and document patient information, including medical history, reason for visit, and vital signs

Accurately enter patient data into the electronic medical record while maintaining confidentiality

Prepare examination rooms and assist providers during diagnostic and treatment procedures

Execute clinical orders such as laboratory draws, medication administration, immunizations, EKGs, spirometry tests, and follow-up scheduling

Perform duties under established standing orders related to preventive and chronic care as part of team-based visit planning

Ensure exam rooms are properly stocked and organized with necessary medical supplies

Follow cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization protocols in compliance with OSHA and infection control standards

Respond appropriately and efficiently during urgent or emergency situations

Maintain required logs and routine safety checks, including equipment, temperature monitoring, and sterilization records

Organize tasks effectively to provide safe, timely, and efficient patient care

Monitor clinic safety and adhere to standard precaution practices

Communicate workflow updates and urgent issues to the clinic manager or registered nurse without delay

Support training and onboarding of new or extern Medical Assistant/Clinic EMT staff

Deliver respectful, patient-centered service that is culturally responsive and inclusive

Collaborate positively with colleagues across departments to support organizational goals

Comply with all organizational policies related to patient rights and confidentiality
Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required
-
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or EMT training program

Prior healthcare experience preferred

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position is based in a clinical healthcare setting and involves frequent movement throughout the facility. Employees may be exposed to patients with infectious conditions. The role may require temporary assignment at other Minnesota Community Care clinic locations. Physical demands include prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and other active movements throughout the workday.
