Medical Assistant / EMT-Basic – CareWell Urgent Care
Location: Worcester, MA
Schedule: Full-time, 3 shifts per week, including rotating weekends

Overview:
CareWell Urgent Care is looking for a reliable and motivated Medical Assistant or EMT-Basic to join our cutting-edge urgent care facility. This role supports the clinical team by providing both hands-on patient care and administrative assistance to ensure smooth operations and high-quality care for our patients.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the clinical provider, the Medical Assistant or EMT-Basic will assist with patient assessments, record vital signs and medical histories, prepare patients for examinations, perform IVs and blood draws, conduct ECGs and office diagnostic tests, prep for x-rays, aid with splinting and wound care, and assist in administering medications as directed by the provider.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Prepare treatment and examination rooms with required instruments and supplies.

  • Record patient medical histories and take vital signs.

  • Assist patients during examinations and procedures.

  • Apply dressings and splints; maintain and sterilize clinical equipment and supplies.

  • Aid physicians in minor surgeries, physical exams, and other clinical procedures.

  • Perform phlebotomy and manage associated lab paperwork.

  • Administer medications as directed.

  • Educate patients on discharge instructions and treatment plans.

  • Address patient concerns within the scope of the role.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate documentation for staff, physicians, insurance carriers, and billing purposes.

  • Keep patient records organized for clinical, medical, and billing needs.

  • Assist in scheduling tests, treatments, and follow-up appointments.

  • Screen phone calls and direct inquiries appropriately.

  • Ensure clinical and office areas are clean, organized, and well-stocked.

  • Complete opening and closing tasks as required.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 1–5 years of experience as an MA or EMT; certifications such as EMT, MA, CNA, or LNA are preferred.

Physical & Work Requirements:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.

  • Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases, medical substances, and variable work conditions.

  • Ability to work irregular hours and handle stressful situations.

Travel:

  • Limited travel; may occasionally work at multiple locations.
