CareWell Urgent Care is hiring a reliable full-time Medical Assistant or EMT-Basic to join our modern urgent care center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Schedule:
• Full-time
• Three shifts per week
• Rotating weekend coverage
Position Summary
Working under the guidance of a licensed provider, the Medical Assistant/EMT-B will support both clinical and operational functions of the urgent care center. Responsibilities include patient intake, diagnostic support, minor procedures, and documentation to ensure efficient, compassionate care from arrival through discharge.
Clinical Responsibilities
• Prepare exam and treatment rooms with appropriate tools and supplies
• Obtain and document patient histories, vital signs, and presenting concerns
• Assist with examinations, minor procedures, wound care, and splinting
• Perform phlebotomy, IV access, ECGs, and point-of-care testing
• Support imaging workflows, including X-ray preparation
• Administer medications as ordered by the provider
• Educate patients on aftercare instructions when applicable
• Address patient questions and concerns within scope of practice
Administrative & Office Support
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Update and manage patient records for clinical and billing use
• Assist with appointment coordination and follow-up testing
• Route incoming calls appropriately to providers
• Monitor and replenish medical and office supplies
• Complete daily opening and closing tasks
• Keep workspaces organized, clean, and fully stocked

Education & Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1–5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or EMT preferred
• Active certification as EMT, MA, CNA, or LNA required

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position is based in a clinical urgent care setting and may involve exposure to infectious agents, medical supplies, and other common healthcare conditions. The role requires frequent standing and walking, manual dexterity, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Candidates must be able to work extended shifts and adapt to variable workloads.
Travel:
No routine travel required, though coverage at multiple centers may be requested based on operational needs.
