Job Description

The Town of Ashland is currently seeking applicants for one (1) full-time Firefighter / Paramedic position within the Ashland Fire Department.

We are looking for a dedicated, motivated individual who is ready to serve the community through emergency response and public safety services. Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications outlined below and demonstrate a strong commitment to teamwork, service, and professional development.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license required
  • Current Massachusetts EMT-Basic certification required
  • Paramedic certification preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain EMT-Paramedic certification within three (3) years of hire
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a 911 emergency response environment preferred
  • Firefighter I/II certification is highly desirable
  • Must be willing to reside within 20 miles of town limits within one year of appointment

Key Responsibilities

The Firefighter / Paramedic will be responsible for a wide range of emergency and public safety duties, including but not limited to:

  • Responding to fire incidents and performing fire suppression operations
  • Providing advanced emergency medical care and patient treatment
  • Participating in rescue operations and hazardous materials response
  • Supporting fire prevention efforts and public safety education programs
  • Maintaining fire station facilities, apparatus, and emergency equipment
  • Performing routine inspections, cleaning, and readiness checks of vehicles and equipment
  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned by department leadership
