Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) β Full-Time

Virtua Health is seeking a dedicated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) to provide emergency response and non-emergency medical transportation services. This position delivers patient-focused care in the field, performs assessments, provides BLS treatment, and ensures safe transportation while following New Jersey EMS protocols and medical direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to 911 emergency calls and scheduled interfacility transports in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform patient assessments and provide appropriate basic life support (BLS) care according to state EMS guidelines and medical command instructions.
- Deliver compassionate care while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout transport.
- Safely operate ambulances while following traffic laws, department policies, and defensive driving practices.
- Complete accurate electronic patient care reports (ePCR), documenting assessments, treatments, patient conditions, and transfer information.
- Inspect ambulances and medical equipment before each shift to ensure operational readiness.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked vehicles, supplies, and equipment.
- Follow infection prevention procedures and complete required equipment decontamination after patient care.
- Support training and development of new employees, students, and EMS partners by sharing knowledge and promoting best practices.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, emergency responders, and department staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of an approved Emergency Medical Technician-Basic training program.
- Current New Jersey EMT-B certification (NJ, PA, or National Registry certification preferred).
- Current CPR certification at the professional rescuer level.
- EVOC certification required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous EMS field experience preferred; qualified new EMT graduates may be considered.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of required annual training, including HIPAA, safety training, compliance education, PPD testing, and fit testing.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced emergency environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, and commitment to patient-centered care.
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-Time Position
- Night Shift (12-hour shifts)
- 36 hours per week
- Hourly pay range: $21.85 β $32.83
