Position Overview:
This role supports patient care within the hospital by performing specialized clinical tasks under the guidance of a licensed nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with treatments, providing direct care, and supporting departmental operations while maintaining professional standards.
Education Requirements:

Experience Requirements:

Certifications Required:

Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant (MA), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification, OR two years of prior experience in an Emergency Department

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

Proficiency with Windows-based software and data entry

Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with patients, families, and team members

Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse

Perform clinical tasks according to departmental competencies

Accurately document patient care activities

Follow hospital policies, objectives, and procedures

Maintain required certifications and engage in professional development

Adapt communication and care approaches to meet the needs of diverse patient populations

Support hospital administration and nursing staff in daily operations
Compliance and Safety:

Stay informed about federal, state, and local regulations affecting patient care

Follow Ochsner Health’s Compliance & Privacy Program, reporting any unethical behavior or safety concerns

Ensure patient privacy and adherence to all accreditation and regulatory standards
Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Routine exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue

Work directly with patients, including potentially infectious materials

Ability to meet physical demands, including assisting with patient mobility and performing clinical tasks
